Sleeping Cutie!

In Grey's Anatomy, when the interns and resident doctors get real stressed up and needed some positive distraction, they go to the delivery floor and look at cute new born sleeping babies....Right here, we haven't got the luxury of a delivery floor nor cute sleeping babies but I can walk 10 minutes in the sweltering hot sun and sweat like a pig to look at furry animals in a pet shop...and after having a really stressful morning yesterday, my colleague and I walked across and we saw these sleeping cuties!!!! Awwww

And these two!!

Look at the one inside the little egg shaped hide-out! It's sleeping on its back!

Honestly, I still maintain my standpoint that these furry rodents have better lives than I do, they get to play, sleep, eat, shit, fuck everyday without needing to work and make a living while I slog away in the office earning peanuts.......make me a rodent now!

Artist of the Week: Martina Topley-Bird

Okay, I haven't put up any music post for a bit and now I'd like to introduce one of my favorite vocalists Martina Topley-Bird (ok ok I do have a hell lot of erm, favorites)....She's a UK vocalist who first got noticed when she did the vocal works for trip hop veteran Tricky's first album (they were college friends) and she's been collaborating mostly with him until they fell out (they're rumoured to be dating after Tricky broke up with Bjork). After which, Martina started her own solo career and released her first solo album Quixotic in 2003 and her latest work is with another of my favorite trip hop group Massive Attack in 2009. She's got such lovely dreamy voice that's so soothing, airy and angelic...Her first album "Quixotic" pretty much describe her dreamy almost, surreal vocal quality...and it's a pity that she never got mainstream or gained much popularity...in UK, she's still doing okay in the Indie scene

Martina's debut album...yes, the one I paid $48 bucks to import in...damn it

In fact, she's so little known that when I first know about her in 2004, I went to HMV to look for Quixotic and they don't even have it listed there. I had to order it in and pay like 48 bucks for it. Ouch...and ever since my first order, they started getting her albums in...damn it...My all time favorite song from her is Lullaby, taken off her first album Quixotic...click here to listen to it....oh sooooo dreamy....it goes perfectly with the new frock I'm wearing--a frilly vintage looking navy blue frock with little kitsch prints of ponies...teamed with my favorite Mulberry Bayswater in oak brown.....yay, going to collect a dress tonight...internet purchase...I don't understand why they can't just pop it at my door cos nobody steals my mail at my place anyway! Such hassle! Ohhhh woe is meeeeeee! Anyway, check out the rest of Martina's songs on youtube too! Oh check this out too....it's Baby Blue from her third album The Blue God....click here to listen....retro...again...goes with my vintage looking frock...

P.S Ohhhh one more you have to listen to! It's called Sand Paper Kisses....click here...the kind of moody dark broody music I totally dig....good to make out to...hahaha...baby-making music...woot!

How True!

I chanced upon another freaking excellent quote while reading What French Women Know by Debra Ollivier....here goes...

"Love is blind but hindsight is 20/20"  --  Debra Ollivier

Brilliant isn't it? Can't be any true...if only we have special glasses prescribed when we're in love....

P.S I don't love you....but I'm indeed rather bored and uninspired being back at work....and I desperately need a muse....

Fur-Minator! No more shedding!

Hello people, it's me, Mr Bond, again. See how sexy my butt is? You like? It's hard to find a nice round kitty buttom these days, so count yourself lucky you get to see mine! Hee hee heee...My minion has gone off to work today cos it's the first day of work for 2010 so now I have the whole house to myself once again...hahaha...of course I'm sleeping on her, no, my pillow while she's not around....

Well, minion has been not too bad with me, she bought me a really kick-ass comb that cost only $75 bucks but I don't understand why minion keeps complaining that it's so bloody expensive. Excuse me? I'm a world class cat okay! So a $75 fur brush is indeed a steal and I didn't even ask for a Louis Vuitton custom-made gold monogram fur brush! Hmphf! Anyway, the fur brush has got a rather scary name and it's called the Fur-minator and it's supposed to rake out and comb off all the shedding fur. Minion says I only need to be combed with this fur brush once a week so my lovely fur won't fly everywhere. But meeeeoooow! This fur brush really works! Look how much hair it's picked out!

This is how much fur it combs out with one light stroke!

And check out how much fur came out after 3 minutes of brushing!!!

Well, minion was so dumb cos she was sitting under the fan while using the Fur-minator on me and my fur flew everywhere and went into her eyes, her nose and her ears so she started sneezing 3948379438 times and tearing and I think she had to pop an allergy tablet...hee heee heeeee....oh but this air brush is good cos it really works and removed soooo much shedding fur that normal comb can't remove. I'm a bit scared cos so much fur came out and I don't want to end up looking like this:

The Sphinx cat! They don't have fur and yes, that's Dr Evil's cat in Austin Powers..but Sphinx cats are highly intellegent kitties and they're super loving too, despite looking odd..

I quickly went to check myself out in the mirror and to my relief! I'm still handsome with nice fur and cute as ever! Here's another picture of me....can't see the eyes I know but I do have big bright yellow eyes but I have a black face too and I'm not good with the flash cos everyone's trying to take cute pictures of me....it's hard to be such a handsome kitty like I am...

Now, I need to go groom my nails and play with my mouse toys...till the next time! Meeeooow...and lots of sand paper kisses!

Je ne veux pas travailler!!!

As I've mentioned before, I'm no fan of new year or new year's day cos you know what? After the whole new year holiday, once you're back to work on the next working day, you know that all the immediate debauchery holidays of booze, gluttony and what not are all over! :(

The working day after the new year's day signals the beginning of real work. Now you have absolutely no excuse to slack off after a month-long slacking off period that starts approximately around Thanksgiving in November. So, tomorrow, when Monday hits, it's gonna be lethal, possibly with 60 emails to reply, 30 people to answer to, 3 powerpoint decks to prepare, 1 paper to write and a few other millions loose ends to tie....and there's no more excuse of "Oh, I'll do it when I come back from the holidays" cos well, tomorrow, I'll be back from the holidays! *horror* Back to the grind and time to catch up on what I've been slacking off on...so I'm totally not looking forward to that...but if you are, ping me, I'll recommend you my shrink...

That's also one of the reasons why I don't fancy count down too cos you're counting down to getting back at work doing real work and slogging yourself all over again....Christmas' eve is more fun cos you know next week, it's another holiday! But the whole new year holiday has some sense of finality of the demise of fun to it that makes it terribly menacing to say the least! So I'm already having very bad Monday Blues already....and what better way to beat it and get distracted by looking at eye candy? So I've put up some drool-worthy pictures of Ed Westwick's GQ shoot here (oh cos I've been watching re-runs of Gossip Girl Season 2...oh my Chuck!)

OMFG....he's smoldering!!! Can anyone get hotter than that? My gay friend in New York would probably say "Oh sorry, I need to change cos I just cream my pants!"...wahahaha....now, excuse me if you could cos I'll be busy fantasizing about Ed Westwick......until I reach my office tomorrow morning that is...bwahhhhh

January Muse

Here we go!

Reading: What French Women Know by Debra Ollivier......I'm obsessed with the French and their lifestyle and everything about them ever since I was told by my shrink that I have a very French personality. That started my curiosity in all things French and indeed, I concur with my shrink...and this book attempts to expound and demystify French women's sense of je ne sais quoi that make them oh so fascinating. I initially thought it's gonna be some skin-deep but enjoyable read but after flipping through the first couple of pages, it's got more depth..a mini anthropological insight into the world of French women...ohh la la!
Listening to
: Astrud Gilberto....the oh so soothing voice that has made Ipanema famous...I can never get sick of her...
Wearing:
  • Super duper comfy PJ pants from Cotton On at $25 a pop! It's super soft with bright cheery prints that put me in a very nice mood and they're perfect for lounging around on lazy weekends. I got 2 cos they're too comfy and it makes me so chirpy that I've now named them my "happy pants"!
  • Also wearing John Lennon & Yoko Uno t-shirt from TOPMAN. It's an XS man's t shirt but I don't really fancy tiny tight fitted woman's tees these days. I love my tee shirts slouchy...this one's perfect cos it looks like it's been washed 9 million times but yet it's new and you know you can still wear it even after 9 million washes and it'll still look good with a little bit of tear holes in it.....I pair it over skinny jeans or tuck it in a tight black body con skirt jazzed with strands of long necklace and my grungy Mulberry Roxanne bag.....perfection!
  • Versace by Versace...lovely soft white floral with what I think is a pear middle note that's not at all overbearing...my old bottle was stolen by my maid so here's the replacement and I'm loving it
Using:
  • La Roche Posay Cleansing Milk--I discover how good this is after I got my lash extension cos I thought I should switch from cleansing oil to something else for makeup removal...this stuff cleanses out make up pretty damn well and it's perfect for sensitive skin
  • Decleor Whitening Aromaessence--the perfect face oil treatment that gets absorbed into the skin so well and this one's got a brightening effect...similar to the Neroli Comforting Essence I talked about the other time...this one's got a nice Neroli aroma too...you need only two drops
  • Oshima Tsubaki Camellia Hair Oil...to know how good this is, click here
Eating: Muji's Chocolate Covered Strawberries...ohhhh soooo nice! S4.90 a pack and I can make one pack disappear in say 3 minutes....
Lusting after: Stella McCartney Falabella Bag in grey!!! Ohhhh this is sooo nice and I would wanna get one....anyone wanna buy me one???? hello???

New Year, New Quote

First day of the year and I feel compelled to write something more intellectual but alas! That blister between my ears hasn't got much cerebral power today...(and that blister's a bit disappointed by Sherlock Holmes movie cos it's supposed to be a totally smashing movie but it's really just very very average...but then Robert Downey Jr is smoking hot....awww)

But the other day while I was re-reading one of my favorite books, The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, I was again reminded of this really great quote that one of the characters inside said and it's awesome...it's totally not the most optimistic thing but well, I'm not exactly a lover of the new year's day so, I naturally don't feel obliged to come up with something happy shiny and plastic...but this quote is painfully realistic...and here it goes

Author Ayn Rand with King Vidor (left) and Gary Cooper (right) who acted in the Fountainhead movie

"Men differ in their virtues, if any, but they're alike in their vices" -- Gail Wynand, The Fountainhead

"If you make people perform a noble duty, it bores them. If you make them indulge themselves, it shames them, but combine the two and you've got them" -- Gail Wynand, The Fountainhead

How true! Yes, no, maybe? And just a bit of background. Gail Wynand is a character who's the boss of a media empire and he's a bit of a very difficult, stoic and cynical man.....There's so much truth to the two quotes above...and I love it so much...mostly cos I generally have a hatred for mankind cos I think we're a disgrace (read my previous post here)...but think about it, it's nothing cynical or anything, the quote IS factual...and that's precisely why I love it...Thought I'd share it with you on New Year's Day! Happy new year everyone!
