Ohhh I've been duped! Last month I was musing how I love Vitamin Water and I was totally addicted to it thinking it's damn good stuff cos the advertising said that it's so damn good for your health with all the vitamins and goodies.
Apparently Vitamin Water has been sued for false advertising and unwarranted health claims and the most ridiculous thing is that, despite Coca Cola marketing Vitamin Water as a healthy drink and is a great way to hydrate, their defense to this lawsuit was that the it's "no consumer could reasonably be misled into thinking vitaminwater was a healthy beverage."
Seriously what the fuck is this? And guess what? I've previously overlooked that a bottle contains 33 grams of sugar, not too far from a normal can of soft drink. And you know what? The recommended daily allowance of sugar for a woman is only 20 grams!!
Click Here to view the full article and you'll know how ridiculous it is!
Yikes...I hate false advertising and I was duped by its very attractive and colorful marketing! If you think about it...it's rubbish pretending to be something healthy. How is it different from the poison milk in China pretending to be normal milk? Only the latter kill you faster and is a lot more lethal....False advertisement sucks. Period. Unethical.
No more Vitamin Water for me!!! Not to mention I'm trying to cut out sugar now cos I've been having serious sugar cravings...no wonder I found Vitamin Water addictive!! Cos it's the sugar! Yeah, best not to leave nutrition to a soft drink company!

Retro Naming...
Does anyone remember the old school manual label maker in the 80s, Dymo? That piece of plastic thingy with a revolving disc and you slip in a label strip and punch in embossed letters? Yup, that one..the one in the picture...I had one when I was in grade school and I loved it. I made labels for my water bottle, pencil case, lunch box and whatever I can stick those cute little labels on. And I'm pretty sure I still have one somewhere at home but I really don't remember where I kept it.....These days, Dymo's making the modern electronic ones, so when I saw a new retro version, IN PINK!, I knew I MUST get it!!! Here!
No no no, I didn't JUST buy it cos I actually got this while I was in Hong Kong. So still a very good chinese jew. Anyways, this one is a sup-ed up version! Not only does it have the standard letter embossing, it's even got an additional disc of cursive letters and little cute icons like hearts and stuff! And these days, they've got such cute tapes...with pink polka dots and even cherries! I LOVE THIS!!!!
Well thing is, the embossing is still best on solid colored tapes cos the ones with patterns just look kinda light and didn't have that same old school analogue oomph...But I'm loving this....the modern label maker just can't compare!

Lomo Loot!
I'm in love :)
I'm totally smitten with the Lomography Diana F+ camera!!! It's called Diana F+ Mr Pink and if I'm a camera (toy camera that is), I would be the Diana F+ Mr Pink! (My serious camera persona would be the Leica M8) It's super loud, fun, rock&roll, vibrant, irreverent, spontaneous and unpredictable! The best and most apt part? It's actually of Hong Kong ancestry!! Cos apparently, it's inspired by some 1960s dirt-cheap plastic camera in HK which was retailing at a dollar each (it sounds so funny) and it wasn't a success cos it was considered rubbish. But it got resurrected now because it's famous for its dreamy feel, super saturated color, unpredictable blurring and random contrast. The results? Very cool, artsy shots that no other camera could rival. Who would have known a once condemned plastic camera would have made such a successful come back with its price sky rocketed by 1000 times?
Well I know of it because of Mr Bunny who's an avid photog and he's got the Diana F+ that's been churning out super nice shots....I thought his Diana was really cool when I first saw it and when I saw the pink one, I KNEW I had to buy it. Just have to.
So here's how my stash look....I jumped into the deep end of the pool and bought everything...well, not EVERYTHING, but I didn't only buy the camera, I also bought a cool strap, a nice camera bag, a backing that allows me to shoot on 35mm film (the Diana F+ shoots on 120 in its original form), a lens splitzer (for special effect) and half a dozen of 120 films....Then I spent half of the night figuring out how to work it and load the film, then the other half "pimping" it, which involves cutting off the original cheap plastic strap and then hooking on the super cute polka dot one that go so nicely with the hot pink.
Setting up and pimping in progress. To get the funky strap, I gotta cut off the original one
using, surgical scissors no less...see the cool surgical scissors!
Just don't ask me why I have them...ohh, I have scalpel too!
Then viola! Here's my super cool Diana F+!!! LOVE it!!! Ohhh, and here's the 10 commandments of Lomography!
1. Take your camera everywhere you go.
2. Use it anytime - day and night.
3. Lomography is not an interference in your life, but part of it.
4. Try the shot from the hip.
5. Approach the objects of your lomographic desire as close as possible.
6. Don't think.
7. Be fast.
8. You don't have to know beforehand what you captured on film.
9. Afterwards either.
10. Don't worry about any rules.
I've just shot 2 rolls on my Lomo and I'm very excited to see how the pictures would turn out! I'll process the film soon. I know it'll take a few rolls of film to actually get it right...gonna be a bit pricey cos Mr Bunny said it's about $20 per roll for developing...ouch...But hey, whoever says arts is cheap? Mr Bunny has taken some shots with his Holga Lomo camera and the effects are super nice...here's my favorite of myself taken by him...I love it!!! Lomo rocks! I miss the film camera!
Love the color and all!!

Ugly Dolls!
I love Ugly Dolls and I've had 3 different Ugly Dolls soft toys at home. If you don't know what Ugly Dolls are, click here to find out more and they've got the coolest website! Anyway, during lunch today, I saw this toy shop selling Ugly Dolls figurine and it's those surprise box where you wouldn't know what's inside and I bought one...
Woooo exciting! So tadaaaaa....surprise!!!
It's Wage!!! One of my favorite Uglies!!! Here's all about Wage!
"Wage is a hard worker, just like you! He works at the local Super Mart and wears his apron to serve his customers best. Super Mart has no idea that he works there. But Wage doesn't mind... or he just doesn’t realize it. Uglydolls have an amazing ability to be at two or more places at once (which is why you may see many of the same characters at a store). Wage is best friends with Babo, but there is always room for one more (you). The two of them can often be found on the sidewalk trying to make friends with fire hydrants, phone booths, and other lonely creatures. What’s with that look? Is Wage happy? Sure he is! He smiles on the inside. The next time you call in sick be sure to bring Wage along on your adventures."

How cute! Looks like I'll get another one soon! Awwww so cute! I got one for Mr Bunny too!
Rise & Grind
I'm back at work and I'm so sad cos I miss my folks and sister dearly :(
Before I left for the airport, my dad kinda disappeared somewhere and then while I was packing in my room, he emerged from the stairs with two boxes of Chinese meds for my phlegm and two cans of my favorite Shanghainese oil braised bamboo shoots for me to bring back to SG.
And he went out of the way to get them because I was phlegm-y and the other day, while eating at this shanghai-nese place, I loved the oil braised bamboo shoots and he mentioned that it's available in a can and I went to the supermarket in HK to look for it but got the wrong one...And he went to get it for me just in time for me to bring it back....I'm so touched and it makes me feel like crying cos I miss him terribly....It'll take a couple of days for me to be back to normal I think. The post holiday blues is very real...especially when you miss your family :(
My cat, Mr Bond, on the other hand, is probably happy that I'm back though he's been very attached to Dan the cat sitter (the best in the world). Bondie has been sleeping next to Dan every night and now I gotta slowly get acquainted with Bondie again...but fret not cos when I got back to the office, among the pile of Christmas presents, Princess got me a book called 50 Games To Play With Your Cat....awwww.....
Mr Bond will love it...but it'll involve making props for him so it'll take awhile before I gather the materials to hand make some toys for him...
Meanwhile, my attempt to take the bus instead of the cab has failed again today because I could NOT WAKE UP. AGAIN!!! Argh...I need to save $$$ and I'm back on the Project Chinese Jew now that I've spent all my moolah shopping while in Hong Kong and Bangkok...okay, tomorrow I shall try again!! I must succeed! Wish me luck!

Most Heart Warming News Award 2010
It's only been day 2 of 2011 and I've read about Panda conservation in an online article whereby conservationists dressed up as pandas to release pandas to the wild so they'll get used to having other pandas around instead of human beings...it's soooo funny yet heart warming cos the effort these conservationists put in! Click HERE to read more but check out the funny pictures!!
This is no doubt the cutest news I've seen and read! Hands down! I LOVE Pandas!!!

January Muse
Happy New Year people! Time really flies and it's 2011. It's creepy isn't it? And in a couple of days, I'll be back in SG and back to the grind :( Totally not looking forward to that :( And I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get the post holiday blues cos not only am I gonna be back work, I'm gonna miss my family too :( Mehhhhh, but meanwhile, here's my January Muse 2011....read on....
Reading: National Geographic....taking a break from the usual woman's magazines....I'm a nerd at heart and I love Nat Geo and I can totally sit there for hours to devour the entire mag
Wearing: My new TopShop little black dress with ruffling details! It's super nice and it fits the body super well and is very very flattering! I love the fact that it's got the deconstructive detailing on the front cos it makes this LBD a little edgier. I haven't got to wear it cos I got it a day before I left for HK
Also wearing Chanel double-C ear studs. Well, it'll always be a classic.
Drinking: Vitamin Water! I love it! They're super nice and I'm glad SG has it now! Better than soda pop for sure! And I like that it's not too sweet...I think my papa loves it too
Using: My electric blue Balenciaga "First" bag...I haven't used it for ages. Probably almost a year! So it's time and I'm rediscovering the soft leather and this small bag is what I call a "Big small bag" cos you can stuff lots of stuff in there...yeah, I even shove a small brolly in there! Erm, but I'll be using another bag soon cos a couple of days ago, I got a new Balenciaga City....in purple and with giant hardware...shhhh!!! I didn't dare to use it now cos otherwise my pappy would question me....
Loving: The Chanel Greige (grey+beige) nail color! Ohhhh Greige is my favorite nail color for now cos it's super duper nice. Just right. Dark enough yet it's a nice neutral that's so very versatile...I love the shade so much that I actually bought another similar one from Essie....The Chanel shade is 505 FYI
Love the Fresh Lip Treatment in Rose!!! It's soooo freaking good I'm thinking of buying another one to bring home since SG doesn't have Fresh. This lippy works! It's soooo moisturizing and it's sooooo smooth and doesn't feel sticky at all. And that hint of rosy pink is perfect too....THIS IS AWESOME!
Also loving the black kitty cat pouch from River Island. It's soooo cute!!! I stuffed in my nasal spray and inhaler and lippy!
Playing with: My brand new Lomo Diana F+ Mr Pink Camera!! This stunning lomo camera is so very pretty and the pictures it produces are stunning! Very artsy and dreamy but I'm gonna take a couple of rolls of film to get it right...now 2 rolls down! I can't wait to get back to develop them.
