I'm not sure about you, but I hate this August...the 2010 August sucks ass so far and I'm glad it's gonna be over soon (ending it with my mama's birthday on 31 August..)...but then there's something interesting about it...
An interesting fact about August 2010: This August has 5 Sundays, 5 Mondays and 5 Tuesdays. All in 1 month. It happens once in 823 years.
But then again....who the hell cares? Happy Friday anyways....

Soft Touch!
Great cheap and good hand cream alert! Out of boredom, I went to my shrine aka Watson's the other day and bought Johnson's Extra Care 24-Hour Hand Cream and bam!! A great hand cream is discovered and it's only about $5 bucks! It says it's got a touch of baby oil for continuous pampering and it's indeed very nourishing yet non greasy. A little goes a long way and it leaves hand really soft without any hint of stickiness. It's excellent! I'm addicted to applying it all the time which is good cos I've always been a very lazy hand cream person and I really feel that I should buck up on my hand cream habit before my hands shrivel up like pitted prunes....I'm addicted now...

Boohoohoo....My mom's leaving today after staying here for a month (which zoomed pass real quick by the way)....I'm feeling the separation anxiety even though this arrangement has been established since I was 15 cos I've been living on my own since then and my folks will just zip in and out of this durian island....Thing is, you would have thought that by now, I should be used to my folks' flying in and out but there're simply some things in life you just never get used to and the separation anxiety's one of them. So I'm not exactly looking forward to going back home to find an empty space cos I'm gonna miss my mom even though she drives me nuts at times...Mr Bond's gonna be sad too so I guess I'll have to baby him a little tonight.....Hopefully, I'll go back home for Christmas...

Bed of Roses...
Introducing the not new in the market but new in my collection Chloe eau de parfum...my latest olfactory indulgence that has captured my nose. If you've read my previous entries, you would have known that I was previously lusting after the Lancome Tresor In Love...and you probably wonder why I didn't bag the Lancome instead. Well, simple. The other day, I was out with OGT, thinking that I might just buy it and I took one last spritz on my wrist to try out....strangely, the impetus to buy it wasn't there...I dunno why, it's a bit like "I love you but I'm not in love with you" situation....Then lately, Ah Meow has been spraying the sample vial of Chloe eau de parfum and I'm once again reminded of how much I love the Chloe.

"The thought manifests as the word. The word manifests as the deed. The deed develops into habit. And the habit hardens into character.
So watch the thought and its way with care. And let it spring from love, born out of concern for all beings."

Kerastase
Woot! I have new shampoo! Always wanted to try the Kerastase Bain Volumative but I remember my first experience with Kerastase years back was lousy cos the Bain Satin tangled up my hair and wasn't even moisturizing.....So I put it off for years cos I used to walk out of the shower looking like Medusa on a bad hair day after using Bain Satin. But many years later and probably many new formulations later, people I know are raving about Kerastase and finally, here they are....and they're awesome!!! Unlike the one I used before, this one is smooth and not drying and I love the scent too. And the condition's great as well cos it doesn't overcoat the hair that gives you that slimy feeling. It's just nice and my hair feels light and when I got up this morning (I wash my hair at night, no time in the morning), it's light and full of volume and not as flat as it was before. Thing is, cos I have pretty long hair, the ends still feel a bit dry but it's got nothing to do with the conditioner not being rich enough but I'll have to finish it off with a bit of serum at the end.
Kerastase isn't cheap and if you get it at the salon, the shampoo cost about $38 to $40 and the conditioner $50. BUT you can get it real cheap at Swanston in Chinatown or Beauty Language cos the shampoo is going at about $25 only and conditioner about $38 thereabout. I got my supplies there!

The story of Fatty Bombompadoo
Once upon a time, in a far far away tropical island of durian eaters lived a lovely chick named Joanie. One day, Joanie updated her facebook status to saying that she's reading the book "Eat, Pray, Love" and lots of nice comments about the book and her choice of literature followed.
Then suddenly, an evil force arrived and her name was Fatty Bombompadoo. Fatty suddenly dissed the book, saying that she didn't like it, that the character in the book was flaky and shallow and everything was shallow. Being a lovely lass, Joanie replied a very neutral comment saying different people liked different stuff....ohhhh but Fatty Bombompadoo carried on to release her stink bomb of pompous comments, chiding snide remarks on how she had excellent literature taste to put everyone down, quoting all the good books she has read before and that chick lit/flick annoyed her and made her lose her patience, hinting that she's superior than everyone else on the comment thread....and then, all the good people of the comment thread joined forces to indirectly insult Fatty Bombompadoo, some even calling her Jabba, as in Jabba the Hutt while others made fun of her with bimbo comments...and Fatty Bombompadoo hadn't got any idea that it was directed at her. The comments finally stopped but Fatty Bombompadoo went down with everyone hating her....
SO, here's the moral of the story:

SO, here's the moral of the story:
- If you don't have anything nice to say, kindly keep your trap sealed shut.
- If you want to bash something, go to a thread that actually bashes it...have the intellect to know that it's stoooopid to bash something on a thread where everyone else loves it...what the hell are you trying to achieve?
- If you don't spend so much time lying on your back reading bad books, maybe, just maybe, one day you'll finally see your waistline...
- If you're a bloody Nazi, don't go to Bar Mitzvah shouting anti-Jew stuff cos you're the only Nazi and there're plenty of Jews and they will take you down
- EQ trumps IQ
- If you're fat and ugly, the least you can do is to be nice
- If you're taunting and bullying Miss B's friends and Miss B knows, chances are, you'll get bitched at on this blog

Notable Quotable
People universally tend to think that happiness is a stroke of luck, something that will maybe descent upon you like fine weather if you're fortunate enough. But that's not how happiness works. Happiness of the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestation of your own blessings. And once you achieve that state of that happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it, you must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it. If you don't, you will leak away your innate contentment. It is easy enough to pray when you're in distress but continuing to pray even when the crisis has passed is like a sealing process, helping your soul hold tight to its good attainment.

August Muse
A very much delayed Monthly Muse! But here it is...after all, according to Susan Miller the astrologist, August is a tumultuous month with lots of weird planetary movements...whatever that means...I think it means messy shit...but anyway, here's the monthly muses...
Reading: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.....Okay, I'm a laggard cos HL was already asking me to read it some time ago but I only got down to it now but omg, I totally love it. I'm now waiting for the movie to come and I'll probably watch it with Scotty or Joan...haha...they'll appreciate it...
Drinking: Fancl Powder Green Tea....I love green tea but I love the powdered green tea instead of the tea bag type cos it's got a richer flavor and more potent source of antioxidants. Oh, it's supposed to help you keep the weight and fat down by averaging about 3 cups a day....Fancl's green tea comes in nifty individual packaging that's easy to bring around...and it's got just the right amount for a cuppa.
Wearing: Lancome Miracle....Look, I've resisted buying Lancome Tresor In Love. How I managed I couldn't know cos it's likely to be divine intervention that I managed to not buy a new perfume I truly like. So need substitute and while I was throwing out bottles of rancid perfume, I found a bottle of brand new Lancome Miracle that I forgot existed and it was courtesy of Aunt Shelley some time back....so use it...quite love it too...until I succumb to Tresor In Love of course...not so soon...
Also wearing Essie mint green and baby blue nail polish....I'm at a phase where I like "weirdo" colors and these two are perfect...my good luck colors too!
Using: Keratase Bain Volumative shampoo....smells divine...great lather, nice volume and not drying at all....will blog more about it another time....
Carrying: Mulberry Roxanne in black canvas and leather....I'm giving my Balenciaga and Alexa some rest and rekindle my little romance with my dear Roxanne. This is a super rare one cos the coated canvas version was only made for one season (cos Roxanne fans complained the full leather one is too heavy)...thing is, with Mulberry now stop producing Roxanne, this will be quite a collector's item...haha...
Inhaling: Seretide Accuhaler....blahh....My bloody asthma is wrecking havoc and I was kinda out of breath and the respiratory specialist did some lung function test and said that the bloody GP gave me an inhaler with too low a dose and now I'm using this super cool, flying saucer-lookalike inhaler...it's a nice purple and looks like a compact powder...asthma has never looked this chic...okay, look, just trying to make lemonade out of life's lemon cos this costs like 50 bucks each damn it...
Loving: Pearl everything....I've got a hell lot of pearl stuff these days...I'm constantly wearing pearls...it's gorgeous and pearls bring me luck...
Subscribing to: The Daily Love! Oh how I love TDL! It sends daily inspiring quotes that are great food for thoughts. I follow them on twitter too and I totally love it...check it out here

UAOG
The other day, in another random conversation which I can't remember, Princess said he's joining the YOG and we all laughed and told him he couldn't cos he's no longer under the "Y" aka youth category and he'll have to join the Uncle & Aunty Olympic Games UAOG instead...then sparked the whole conversation of what would constitute UAOG where Singapore would excel and do damn well in...and the list of UAOG items are below:
- 72-hour nonstop Mahjong Championship....play till you drop, the last uncle/aunty standing and winning wins...our strongest competition would be the Hong Kong uncles and aunties....
- Spitting competition.....see who can spit the phlegm furthest, I think Singapore might lose to some Shanghainese ah pek from China, but who knows? Our island of uncles have pretty decent spitting prowess
- "Lah Kopi" challenge....our uncles and aunties are real amazing when it comes to stirring their tea or coffee mug real quick at high speed (with clinking sound no less) to dissolve the sugar....the one who can "lah" the "kopi" and dissolve the sugar and condensed milk fastest wins
- The loudest sneeze contest.....our previous PM Goh mentioned he's appalled by how loud some people sneeze and that they can be heard in the entire neighbourhood....
Okay, enough rubbish now for today....but the other day, I kinda noticed that the YOG mascot, the girl one, Merly, has got camel toe....

Pearls.....
Diamond is a girl's best friend??
Nah....Pearl is my best friend! (pretty sure Ah Meow would agree)....I kinda naturally love pearls a lot cos it's just so pretty and the idea of it being organic is kinda cool and precious sounding. Plus, it's good for me cos my Fengshui master says so cos I'm a strong Earth element and would need more Water element in my life to balance the energy and pearl is good cos it represents the sea....so I'm piling on the pearls and it gives me the excuse to get more pearls necklaces and accessories!
What I would really dream of wanting is the gorgeous Tahitian black Southsea pearls....they're sooooo gorgeous....marvelous black beauty from nature! But they cost a bomb, so maybe some time in the future when I win the lottery....Recently I've been collecting pearls everything...nah, not the super expensive ones cos right now I can only afford fresh water pearls cos they're more affordable and I'm lusting after a necklace from Mikimoto!

Ohhhhh gorgeous black Southsea pearl from Mikimoto! But oh so expensive...
this one cost about $2,000 and it's just ONE single pearl, so you can imagine a full strand of pearls....
usually costs over $10,000 and beyond...
The most expensive perfectly black Southsea Pearls cost $ 1 million from an auction some time ago...omg...

Aqua Power
It's been awhile since I last tried something new and I've been quite good at not buying things, so I thought I've earned my brownie point to actually reward myself and get some look good stuff for my beauty regime....This time, it'll be the Aqua Label Enhancer....a clear liquid that you use as your last step of skincare to lock in and seal in all the goodies that you've applied earlier....
Aqua Label has been around for some time and it's launched in Singapore last month and is now available at my shrine aka Watsons...so is it any good? Well I would say not too bad. I've been using it for about 2 weeks already and I basically splash it on my face with the amount of about a 50-cent coin and pat it on. It gets absorbed quite well and doesn't feel too sticky yet it keeps skin dewy and smooth. I notice that in the morning, my skin is still a bit moist as compared cos normally, when I wake up, my skin is slightly dry despite using quite a bit of moisturizer (naturally dry skin to begin with, and cos I MUST sleep in super cold aircon room), so I would say it does retain moisture relatively well and when I apply my makeup in the morning, it glides on smoother and easier. So why not? It's just simply splashing it on and takes less than 30 seconds.

Wahahahahahaha.....
I'm sure everyone has experienced freaky dreams whereby your teeth fall off and you panicked just to wake up relieved it's just a freaky teethy dream...but here're some really funny teeth-falling moments that never fail to crack me up! And I think human beings are really quite funny cos we laugh at things like teeth falling off, people farting, people falling down and poo joke....
Feeling all chirpy and getting the happy buzz cos long weekend is coming! Woot! And I kinda have a wish list of little things I wanna get. Not big purchase....here're what:
- Pearl stuff...cos in my dictionary, Pearl is a girl's best friend....
- L'Oreal Kerastase Shampoo and Conditioner.....just feel like it pampering myself
- New skinny jeans (if I can find a good fit that is...will be on a denim hunt)
- More books....Kinokuniya on 20% off!! Will fight the bloody crowd...oh maybe go tonight or early tomorrow morning....or maybe tonight...
- Maybe....just MAYBE Tresor In Love perfume....which I've been lusting after but putting off buying cos I've got sooooo many freaking bottles....I'm still trying to resist...last night I threw away about 6 or 7 bottles of leftover perfume cos their smells are kinda gone and went rancid or something....it's quite a waste....I figure if I hold off this one long enough and finally still buy it, it'll mean I'll use it in the long run and it's worth the buy....see...I'm more sensible these days....
Very reasonable cos only 5 items (or more, depending on how many books I end up grabbing)......
